Hi All,
I would like my parents and my younger brother who is in his engineering college 2 nd yr to visit me on visitor visa. My father is a government emoployee with more than a yr job left, my mother has retired last yr and my brother has still 2yrs left for his engineering.
1. Do you think they should raise any objection for my brother getting a tourist visa ?
2. Should my brother's case affect my parent's case as well? I think given my father is a govt employee in India, that should work in his favor? Any thoughts.

I and my family have to travel to India urgently due to medical urgency. Our only AP document was taken last year and this year the renewal is not yet done. We are using our EAD status and H1 is expired and no longer available.
Is there a way I can get an emergency appt and a AP travel document. if yes, what do I need to do to get that.
If this question has been answered earlier, can someone point to the right source.

Check with the lawyer first...I don't think you can apply for AP while you are outside U.S. I know for sure, Reentry permit will be denied if you apply from outside U.S. I am not sure if it's the same for AP. Incidentally, you use the same 131 form for both...
So check with a lawyer before you act based on the advice from the forum, even if it means shelling some money...That money will be well spent...

Canada has been using this for skilled worker program, where individuals can apply for Canadian permanent residency independently if they fullfill the passmark. Other countries like Australia, UK and New Zealand also follow suit with different types of difficulties.
How about US? Would US adopt this?

the eligible people are lesser, like giving points for work exp in US etc(onL1
or H1b).
Aust system is also pretty strict and only people who are working/studying in Aust can qualify.
Any system that delinks the employer - GC sponsering system will reduuce the problems to some extent. but retrogression will be there if
too many people apply.

I just got my 3 year h1b extension today, was filed under premium processing. Everything the same except u pay $1000 extra. I got my approval in less than a week.

Hi .. I am on L1 with my current employer. I applied H1B through a consultancy and my petition got approved. My current employer told me that they can transfer my approved H1B to them. Is it really possible to transfer H1B to my current employer, just by having the approved petition?

I agree with you. I am not from India and we should concentrat on the problem of the GC problem.
Guys, please don't start Indian firm bashing here. This site is being visited by people of other nationalities as well as offices of the lawmakers. I had my parents and my grandmom visit me last year. All three of them went together for the visa interview at Delhi. The only question the officer asked my father was - Why do you want to take your Mom to visit the US 'now'? and my dad replied, 'If I do not take her now, when will I take her?'. They all got a 10 year visa.

2. My future greencard has been filed by Company B - recd. EAD, applied 485
My question:
1. Can I work on my EAD either for company A or any other company?
2. What happens if I dont join Company B ever?

Hello i am running in to issues of how to get address changed. To give you guys previews. We were residing in Chicago till July ending. In August we moved to CT as my wife got a new job there. But since my work location is in IL , I requested my employer whether its possible to work remotely and its ok by law. He said u can change ur residential address and there is no need to amend LCa/H1b as there is no change in work location in my case. Fine for now.
I recently visited CT DMV and requested for CT state license. They denied to me saying that i need a CT employer letter or My employer should issue letter to DMV stating my work location changed. Neither of these are going to happen. For now i have my license and Plate from IL itself. I can still continue to maintain but renewing Plates and Pollution test are pain being in CT any ideas please ?
