4.3.2 is rumoured to be out soon (via BGR). Although BGR seems to have a mixed record.

Thanks. I was was confused by the number of postings on the internet I saw which kept referring to folks saying they're using launchd now since "there is no xinetd in SL anymore" and so on. I assumed that meant it had been taken out entirely and replaced with launchd.
I'm still not entirely sure the PDF isn't wrong, though. It mentions FTP and Finger specifically as two services that use xinetd, which means they should have entries in /etc/xinetd.conf and/or /etc/xinetd.d/<service>, right? Only my 10.6 workstation has nothing like that. I do, however, have .plist files for both of those in System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ - unless the server is using xinetd while my desktop is using launchd, but that doesn't seem right.

hi,
what been missed out in this discussion is that the ACD has no HDCP support !!! that means no protected Blueray HD content plays
( maybe thats why there is no blue ray option yet !)
and even when DVI is compatible to HDMI , without HDCP the ACD stays black, which makes the name Cinema a bit obsolete ,

Same for MacBytes: "Macintosh News, Headings, and Links".
An aside: The Apple home page, hot news page, and hardware and software pages together use the word "Macintosh" only once! But people browsing Apple's site probably know what Mac stands for.
Good thought, but I don't think this is necessary. When I search in Google, I get this:
"Mac Rumors: Apple Mac Rumors and News You Care About [...]
Description: Apple news and rumors with user contribution and commentary."
People who are looking for Mac things should be able to figure it out, in my opinion. If they're looking for something else, they should be able to figure out that it's not the right place.

I used to always use Opera on Windows, but I use Firefox now.
If only Firefox had Fast Forward and Rewind like Opera, then it would be great...
I might check out Opera8 if I find time.

i0nic said he would release a jailbreak by this coming weekend
er didn't he said he was going to release it this past weekend? Then retracted saying "I never promised anything"?

It's cute that people think Comex actually ever made a working Jailbreak for iPad 2.
I wish I could photoshop my way to 200k followers on Twitter.
Give it a shot :)

i have a couple Lexar 16GB 233X cards for my 7D and they work great. Shot lots of video at 1080x24 and 30 and also 720x60 and absolutely no problems with write speed, even for full length (4GB) videos. Continuous shooting at the 8fps on the 7D is also great, very long bursts capable with the 233X (approximately 30MB/s) cards.
The 400x will perform great for you (although remember there are a couple different speed multipliers for '_ _ _ x'... so the actual number of MB/s may vary) 300x is around 45MB/s (not mbps like you posted).
Hope that helps!

Sorry let me clarify, I'm @ BB in SLC. There is just me here, well my chair and me. At 4PM they give you a ticket so you don't have to wait in line for the last hour. So stupid.
Do they have a clue on stock? Best Buy in SLC may be a good backup if the Gateway gets too overrun.

It seems that most if not all stores are getting shipments daily around noon. That was the case yesterday in Boulder, CO. At 10:30am they had none, but at 3pm they had stock of both models.

I create a button at runtime. The button appears but crashes the app with an NSException error when I click on it. I don't see what the issue is. I need a pair of new eyes. Thanks.

When you're just starting out you'll take a lot of pictures, and I mean a lot. But over time once you learn your camera and photographic techniques that you like, you'll be able to get that 'perfect shot' with just one, so you won't be taking half as many pictures and that will take half as much space. (This is coming from a guy who took 7400 pictures in just two weeks in NYC and Washington DC).
That may be true, about taking fewer photos - but I've found that as the number of kept pictures goes down, the size of each image goes up as the camera gets better. I'm up to a 39 MP system now (and good heavens, I can't see any reason why I will every need anything bigger) that expands into TIF files of 200MB each, iirc. Looking at a serious expansion of storage, and of course the backups that go with that.

I am trying to go to a website, I can't access it though. I can access every other webpage I want on my MacBook Pro, iPhone, iPad... but this one site. I believe it is because of my service provider, which is Comcast. When attempting to load the page in any browser I get the response the the server wasn't responding. When I try to connect the site through other service providers, I have a Clear iSpot and AT&T iPhone 4, I can access it just fine on all my machines.
Anyone ever heard of this happening? I have been in contact with the administrator of the site who has tried to give me solutions but nothing has worked. I really need to get this resolved quick, I would love help. Thanks.

I guess I'm not particularly surprised, and I wish we could hear all the reasoning that went into the decision (which, of course, we won't). But given that VMware just about owns the x86 virtualization market and has announced its foray into the Mac universe, I imagine Microsoft figured it'd be a lot of work for what figures to be very little profit.
It's not like we don't have options - I can't imagine Virtual PC will be missed. Those of us still using PowerPC processors can still buy VPC 7.

ca.gizmodo.com. It also has the old page style, which is a major plus. Why they crammed in all that javascript is beyond me. I only visit once or twice a day now, and it's with the mobile site on my phone.

Ah, but YOU'RE missing the point completely. As resolutions inscrease the interface can scale up because it is resolution independent in 10.5. Web pages are NOT resolution independent for the most part.
Fear not sir, the WebKit team is already working on resolution independence. I'm pretty sure that some of the web specifications are being upgraded to provide resolution scalability as well. (For instance providing a choice between two resolutions for the same image on the page.) Alas, the web is such a clusterf* of randomly assorted technologies, most of which were never intended to scale to hi-res displays, so I expect the transition to be long and painful, but I trust that the Web Kit team will come up with clever ways to carefully scale up the content.

I've got one that has a small dead area on the screen because I let my little girl use it as a teething toy. Probably some sort of water damage. If ur interested let me know & maybe we can work something out.

No surprise since their intentions became obvious when they backpeddled over earlier comments made by a spokesperson during MWSF '06 after the keynote and also the subsequent length of time "spent evaluating" the feasibility while Parallels came in with an actual product. VMWare's confirmation they were entering the Mac market probably killed any remaining consideration.
"I just don't know what the hell I'm doing. Help! I need Help!"
Something was missing in that attachment....:D

If you have spare $99 bugs, I'd say go for it.
Otherwise: NO.

I will probably be at the Northridge store. Was there for the 3GS launch and the line forms just inside the mall, outside the store. There was not that big of a line at all. I was actually VERY surprised. I was probably # 20 in line and when I got out the line for preorders was not any longer than when I entered it. I just felt bad for the walk-ins. Their line was long.
See you all there. Bright and early.

if your talking about accidental dialing try AskToCall makes you confirm dialing
AskToCall is a nice tweak, really stops the 'pocket dialing' for me. I used it for about a week....but removed it yesterday.
I was thinking it was causing some battery usage and/or sluggishness issues and was removing apps one by one to see which may have been the culprit.
I'll be re-installing it....but thinking about re-installing iOS 4.1 first (on iOS 4.3.2 now, which is probably the issue in the first place).
