Very inexactly. The system is borked.
Before you assume that, try xUKHCx's suggestion. In testing on dormant threads, where others aren't voting constantly, it works accurately every time. This thread has 67 posts but 341 views... you don't know how many of those viewing are clicking to vote on various posts.

I do agree that you should be able to remove your vote, rendering a net change of zero, but otherwise, it appears to be accurate.

Is it just the zombie packs you get with the hardened edition? I already have all those on W@W, not paying for them again.

I believe it's just the zombie maps from WaW you get.

We're talking about information here. It has no intrinsic value.

I do believe you are inherently wrong here.

Information is stored on artifacts (things). Therefore the combination of the artifact and its highly value added information has yet more "intrinsic" value.

What has more value in stopping cars, a red light or a blue light. They are both lights. They only emit different information.

    Dictionary.com:

"Of or relating to the essential nature of a thing; inherent."

I genuinely think that if Apple are introducing a movie store today they're going to have something rather special up their sleeve - I think pricing should be extremely competitive compared to DVDs otherwise what's the point?

Digital downloads of films (sorry, movies) needs to be made appealing to the masses in the same way music was, with cheap individual prices that compared favourably to CDs - people have gotten used to owning only digital copies of their music, however movies are still in that tangible area of hard media, and I feel Apple are going to have to really be priced competitively to alter public perception of digital distribution of movie content.

Not that they *won't* of course, but I don't think it's going to be necessarily easy.

If they introduce HD content I'll be a very happy bunny.

I don't know what is more lame...

The fact that Gizmodo actually pulled such a stunt or that Motorola used a presenter with a British accent.

Huge saving on airport express. New Airport Ultra Express (802.11n) at Macworld!

    Confirmed! :)

Can you please tell us where you heard that? Regardless, I think I will still go with the sale and get another Express. Don't base it on the sale because they have had the Expresses on sale for the last two black Fridays.

Fully aware of the fakes around, my beats are the early solo version (not HD). I have heard all the stories about them being fragile. I'm careful with my gear so I'm hoping I don't have a problem.

Mines are from a legit UK distributor - so I don't have to worry about fakes. I much prefer the matt finish to the Glossy HD ones.
    :)

    Hey guys quick question:

Is it possible to plug an Xbox 360 into one of the Apple displays? I'm looking into getting the 20inch at the new reduced price.

    Thanks for your help!

Apple needs to start working on a new business model while the studios are still suing their customers and the TV boom is still on. If they dont they're going to be beaten overseas. Enough with the legal rhetoric damn it, evolve your business model or you'll lose.

Beaten overseas by who? Who is making it big selling TV shows overseas?

good lord, if anyone actually got through reading all this, can there be any doubt left that all consumers want is DRM-free content??? There's a simple rule that exists - the more complicated the DRM you put on your content, the less likely that people are going to buy it. Hence, people are downloading music and movies for free, and ripping Netflix DVDs to their hard drives to burn their own copies.

You can't put the genie back in the bottle. Until there's DRM-free movies and music for sale online, so-called pirated downloads will continue to dwarf legal downloads. End of story.

Wow, that's incredibly naive. People don't get free content because the free content is "simpler". It's because they're too cheap to pay. If people want no drm, they can just buy cd's and dvd's and rip them. People who download free content, or rip rented discs are just cheapskates who are stealing.

There IS DRM free music for sale online. And in contrast to your theory, people are still stealing it.

Whom are you kidding? Nobody cares that Fairplay's DRM is better than other DRM. Do you think it being "successful" (and that word ONLY applies comparing it to other pay services, not overall downloads) has anything to do with the fact that 70% of all mp3 players are ipods, and only work with the itms?

But if iTunes' DRM was annoying to users, it never would have made it to 70%. Users absolutely care about DRM. But they're not aware of it unless it's too restrictive or inconvenient - if you give them *bad* DRM they will totally notice it and hate it.

thanks to the OP and the ppl who are giving suggestions, I beleve that something will happen, the police will catch them. if not for the OP loosing their 360, everything these brats stole would never return to the original owners. All it needs is time and a bit of luck, like the connecting to the OP's network, how silly of them to access something from the scene of the crime! ;)

held the event on a Monday nowing that Adobe was going to announce a new Beta of Lightroom -- and wanted to either steal their thunder or at least get there bit in

this doesn't mean there will not be any updates to the MBP on Tuesday.

BTW -- how many makers of Windows laptops have versions with the new chips? This is not a smartass comment - just wanting to know

And I think i might go out and get me-self Aperture

Do you really think MS will ever do that?

As stupid as they are, probably not. They're happy with having the most market share, why should they bother changing anything?

But, when it's as easy to get a virus as downloading a banner ad from a website that you visit ( sometimes even legitimate ones) using IE with ActiveX enabled, then *maybe* a stronger security model is called for.

These days, if you're running Windows and don't have at least a good antivirus, antispyware and (can't hurt) firewall, you're almost assured of getting infected somehow. I see it all the time at work - we have people coming in paying hundreds to have us remove viruses and to install a new antivirus program, because they didn't know the old one expired.

If Microsoft was smart, they'd even *consider* doing this - I hate to say it, but look at Mac users - even though we're not immune to potential viruses in the future, how long has OS X been around, and how much malware is out there to infect it? Maybe 5-10 programs? UNIX just has that stronger security model...

A confirmation is always nice. :)

How on earth is this being voted as Negative? Also what's up with the last option in the poll? That depresses me! :(

I guess there are some pillocks out there who are voting negative on every news item simply because none of them say "MEROM MBPS OUT TOMORROW"

Which brings me back to my initial reply. A "Firearm" has ZERO possibility of injuring your child, until someone behaves irresponsibly. I am fine with a doctor providing a pamphlet of common household hazards and steps to prevent them, but I get the feeling this is not the case. I can too easily imagine the doctor going off on a tangent about firearms deaths statistics, etc...

But again, the most important part: If you dont want your doctor "politicing" you, GO TO A NEW DOCTOR. There should NEVER be laws against what you can or can not say.

    Dude, you're clueless.

I have a severe congenital hearing loss and it's really amazing how parents don't really understand the long term consequences of poor hearing protection.

Just as in almost all other health matters, the more exposure to loud noises when young, the more likely a child is to end up with a hearing loss as he ages. Some parents do insist on hearing protection when using firearms, but I'm sure there are a lot that don't. Shooting guns without hearing protection is like taking a five year old to a Nascar race. Very, very irresponsible simply based on the noise level.

I'm sure Dr Choi was speaking of the danger of firearms being discharged by and around children with a lack of supervision, but your tunnel vision when it comes to the health and safety of children is appalling.

[Nevermind. Took a bit of searching, but I eventually found it. Curiously, for me, it did not show up when I searched for Apple]

Am I the only one not finding this on the App Store?
